Soul Searching: Chapter 16

The door to the ice-cream truck swung open and the squirrel rushed inside, its fur standing straight up.

“Crick-crick, crick-crick,” the squirrel screamed, which means “I saw it with my own eyes! I was outside the window when they killed Cedric! They burned him alive! Those monsters must pay!”

Tulip stood up. There was a basket sitting on the floor. The cat picked it up and walked toward the door.

“Crick-crick, crick-crick,” the squirrel said, meaning “Where are you going?”

“Oh, I’m just going out to pick some plants, herbs, twigs and mushrooms. I have the Groundskeeper’s recipe and a battalion of French sappers, all of them thirsting for revenge.”
